1.2 A multi-professional approach to the planning and ongoing development of the unit is reflected in the Action Plan and monitored by a Steering Group.

1.3 Multi-professional collaboration is evident in current practices and communication.
(a) To show evidence of how the PDU collaborates effectively multi-professionally - we have highlighted 7 examples of multi-professional collaboration based on the 7 standards of PDU accreditation.

(b)To show evidence of how the PDU communicates effectively mul- we have highlighted some examples currently in use.
(i)The unit has a pre-printed PDU induction information sheet for new members of staff.
(ii)The H&N PDU Newsletter page can be accessed by clicking here.

(v) Another example of communicating the PDU to different areas is this power point presentation given at an ENT UK BAOMS national nurses conference and at a joint ENT / MFU / Audiology Audit day presentation in 2011. 1.4 The unit maximises the use of skills and knowledge within the MPT to plan, implement and evaluate care.
(a) There is a high level of clinical skills shared by multi-professionals in the H&N PDU - click here to see a shared clinical skills list.
(d) THe Head and Neck PDU holds regular / weekly meetings where patient care is discussed / planned and evaluated. These meetings come in the shape of the Multi-disciplinary meetings for:
(i) Thyroid Cancer
(ii) Skull Base Cancer
(iii) Head and Neck Cancer.

1.5 Information relating to the progress and achievements of the PDU is disseminated throughout the Trust.
(a)The PDU Newsletter is one of the main vehicles for dissemination of PDU developments to the Trust and the wider community.

(c)The Aintree News is a quarterley publication which carries information about PDU developements:
(d) The H&N PDU has been involved in a national health promotion event entitled 'Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Week. One of the events involved in this health promotion has been an evening seminar for community health care professionals to attend and find out more about the condition, what signs and symptoms to look out for and how to access the head and neck cancer services at Aintree. The PDU has arranged these events as well as promoting PDU at the seminars.
