Richard Shaw was appointed to the regional cancer centre in May 2007. This follows a highly successful surgical career undertaken mainly in the UK but also in the USA. He is no stranger to Liverpool, having spent 6 years training here, initially as an SpR before taking up a head and neck fellowship post. During his training, he has undertaken valuable research mainly into the genetic aspects of head and neck cancer. His research has been published in the leading cancer journals and has been presented at many significant international meetings. Richard is a well-respected clinician who combines his academic research career with the clinical management of cancer patients within the regional cancer centre.
